Abstract.
We report the first observation (103 +- 17 events) of the decay
Lambda(c)+ --> Sigma- pi+ pi+ and the charge conjugate.
A measurement of the relative branching
ratio Gamma(Lambda(c)+ --> Sigma(-) pi+ pi+)/Gamma(Lambda(c)+ --> Sigma+ pi+ pi-)
= 0.53 +- 0.15 (stat) +- 0.07 (sys) is also presented.
